Changelog
Read about the latest changes in MultiViewer
Changes:
Live Timing
- Replays load again: F1 started asking for an F1 TV sign-in before it sends replay timing data, so every replay failed to load. MultiViewer now sends your F1 TV sign-in with those requests, which means you need to be signed in to F1 TV to load a replay, something that we already checked client-side, but is now verified server-side too
- When F1 doesn't accept your sign-in for timing data, the error now says so. It tells you whether you're signed out or your sign-in has probably expired, and has a button to sign in or open your F1 TV account
- Lap times deleted for track limits now show under the Track limits filter in Race Control Messages, not under Penalties. Reinstated lap times moved with them, so you can see a deletion being reversed
Player
- Live delay holds steady: on live F1 TV streams, the delay could drift up and down by as much as 6 seconds while the player chased a wrong measurement. It now stays where you set it. This particularly affected users with latencies under 30s
- Square corners on Windows 11: Square player window corners now works on Windows 11 too, so players tiled next to each other meet without gaps (off by default, under Settings > Appearance > Windows)
- Opening the Driver of the Day vote over a player no longer drops the stream to a lower quality. On Linux it could fall to 360p, primarily because of dropped frames
General
- The troubleshooting page has a new Live timing sign-in check, which tests whether F1 accepts your sign-in for timing data
- Updated Electron to pick up its latest security fixes
We've done lots of testing, but we can't catch every bug, so if you find one, please report it on our Discord, and we'll try and troubleshoot it with you.
Changes:
Radio Gate
- Radio Gate for onboards: right-click an onboard in the player (v2 only) and turn on Radio Gate. It turns the engine noise down and brings it back up while the driver is on the radio, so you can follow team radio without the car drowning it out (off by default, and each player remembers it from your Setups)
- Set how sensitive it is: Radio Gate Sensitivity... in the same menu, or Shift+R, opens a slider with a live meter. Move it right so only clear radio gets through, or left to let more engine sound through. A green outline around the player shows when the gate is open, and you can turn that off in the same dialog
- Some onboards are mono, and on those the radio gate can't tell radio from engine noise. The dialog tells you when that's the case
Player
- Volume up to 200% for quiet onboards and streams in the Shaka (v2) player (off by default, under Settings > Player > Allow volume above 100%). The part of the volume bar above 100% is drawn in a different colour, and a limiter stops the boosted sound from clipping
- Set audio device now works in the FIA WEC, IndyCar and other players. It used to do nothing there and always showed the default device as selected
Live Timing
- The Track Map shows the low grip straight mode zones again when race control declares low grip conditions. Race control changed the message it sends after pre-season testing, so the map kept showing the normal grip zones
- FIA Documents are now listed in the same order as on fia.com. Documents published in the same minute could show up in the wrong order, with "Doc 9" above "Doc 10"
- Documents the FIA recalls or removes from fia.com now disappear from FIA Documents too. We used to keep showing them
The two FIA Documents fixes are done on the server, so you'll see them in older versions of MultiViewer as well.
General
- Updates now come from our own release system instead of GitHub. You won't notice a difference when you update, but it gives us more control over how and when we roll out a release, and makes our builds faster, so fixes can reach you sooner
- With analytics turned on, update checks now send a random install ID, so we can count how many installs are active. It isn't linked to your analytics data, and Restore default settings keeps it, so a reset doesn't count as a new install. With analytics off, nothing is sent
- On Ubuntu 24.04 and later, MultiViewer didn't start on a Wayland session. It starts again, and restarting from Settings works too
- The troubleshooting report now includes the most recent warnings and errors from the log, so we can often help without asking you for the log file
We've done lots of testing, but we can't catch every bug, so if you find one, please report it on our Discord, and we'll try and troubleshoot it with you.
Changes:
- The resolution menu in the Shaka (v2) player shows the resolutions again. Since 2.9.1 every option read "FX"
- A small bug fix that could crash Shaka during playback
Changes:
Live Timing
- Circle of Doom can float over a video: press T, or use the new toggle, to make the window transparent and always on top, like the Track Map. Each window remembers this, and so do your Setups
- Hot lap dimming is more accurate. It now compares each car with its reference lap as it drives, so a cool-down lap after a push no longer shows as hot. It also works properly in replays, where it used to dim most hot laps
- The Driver of the Day reminder now sits in the top right of the player, out of the way of the car and F1's graphics, and goes away by itself after two minutes
- The Driver of the Day vote uses the full width of the window, and the cards no longer move when you pick a driver
Player
- Keyboard shortcuts list: press ? in a player to see every shortcut. Press ? or Esc to close it
- Volume and speed hotkeys: - and = change the volume (hold Shift for bigger steps, and the numpad + and - work too). [ and ] change the playback speed, and \ goes back to normal speed (though in live sessions, this may not work as expected)
- You can scroll over the volume control to change the volume
- The arrow keys while focused on the volume slider no longer seek the video while you change the volume
- On macOS, a new setting gives player windows square corners, so players tiled next to each other meet without gaps (off by default, under Settings > Appearance > Windows). With it on, full screen fills the screen in place instead of moving to its own Space
- The Shaka (v2) player is no longer marked as experimental
Settings
- Settings has a new layout: one section at a time, with a sidebar to switch between them and a search field that looks through every setting. The old Experimental card is gone. Its settings have moved to where they belong, and the ones that are still experimental have a label
- Settings opens in any window now, including Live Timing popouts, instead of taking over the main window
- Settings you've changed have a dot next to them and their own reset button. You can also reset a whole section, and undo any reset, including Restore default settings
We've done lots of testing, but we can't catch every bug, so if you find one, please report it on our Discord, and we'll try and troubleshoot it with you.
Changes:
Live Timing
- Driver of the Day voting: during a live race, MultiViewer now reminds you to vote for Driver of the Day, and you can vote right inside the app
- Track time in the header: the Live Timing header now shows the local time at the circuit. It follows the replay and your live delay. You can turn it off in Settings
- Safety Car and Virtual Safety Car periods are now shaded on Race Trace, so you can see where the gaps closed up. You can turn this off per window
- Compare sector times in the Sectors Leaderboard: click a driver's row and every other time in that sector shows as a gap to theirs. Click it again to go back
- New option to dim drivers who aren't on a hot lap during practice and qualifying, so the cars setting a time stand out (off by default, under Settings > Live Timing). We're still working on fine tuning this algorithm, but we're looking for feedback on this feature
- Every shareable card now has its own share button, which includes the Sector/Speed Trap Leaderboards, Radio Transcriptions, Race Control Messages and more
- You can hide the header in Race Control, Radio Transcriptions and the Circle of Doom windows
- Circle of Doom now follows the app theme, stays readable in small windows and has its own Color Customizations
- Circle of Doom no longer counts slow laps in practice and qualifying when it works out the average lap's pace
- If F1 blocks your connection to Live Timing, we now tell you so, instead of showing a generic error
- Live Timing and Replay Live Timing now share one window, so opening one no longer breaks the other
- We've made a number of changes under the hood that make Live Timing faster, most of all in Circle of Doom and the timing tables
Player
- Skip the build-up: on a replay, Shift+G now jumps straight to the start of the session, using the same data we use to sync Live Timing
- Seeking on a live stream works again: before, the player pulled you straight back to live. Now it stays where you seek to and shows a "Return to Live" button
- New "Close all windows" option in the player's right-click menu, which also closes Live Timing windows (but leaves the main window open)
- Streams keep retrying after a network timeout instead of stopping
- Live delay is now correct even if your computer's clock is off
- New experimental audio setting that fixes clicks and pops while the player holds your live delay
- Player windows no longer show a scrollbar
- You can drag a player window by its top edge again
Setups
- Restoring a setup now reopens the Live Timing window on the layout tab it was saved on
- Saved players now match drivers by their TLA first, so a driver with a new number still ends up in the right place
- Fixed windows sometimes losing their state when a setup was restored
General
- Fixed a bug where a new Windows install closed itself the first time it started
- Fixed Windows on ARM updating to the x64 version
- On macOS we now ship separate Intel and Apple Silicon downloads instead of a universal build
- On Linux, you can now choose where your saved sign-ins are stored (for example on sway, i3 or Hyprland, which Chromium doesn't detect)
- On Linux, we no longer let the system handle window dragging, because it froze player windows on some window managers
We've done lots of testing, but we can't catch every bug, so if you find one, please report it on our Discord, and we'll try and troubleshoot it with you.
Changes:
- Circle of Doom is now in private beta, where Sponsors get early access to help us test this feature (become a Sponsor)
- Three new live timing table columns added for sectors with a compact mini sector line under it
- We re-added a deprecated API for some legacy extensions that still used it (though authors should move away from those whenever possible)
- Double-click for full-screen should be functional again
- Start from live now works on player-v2 again (we're sorry for anyone who got spoiled before!), and we're planning a big improvement for live-from start later this year
- We now create a log file on disk that support can ask for, which helps us diagnose issues better
Changes:
- Fixes an issue where live timing would keep reconnecting
- Fixes an issue where buttons on frameless windows (players, map) wouldn't be interactive
Changes:
AI Radio Transcriptions
- Completely new transcription engine, built from the ground up, with the goal to catch even more radios and improve transcription quality
- More improvements planned for AI Radio Transcriptions, so stay tuned
Live Timing
- Brand new feature: Circle of Doom (private beta; sponsors get early access ๐)
- Much faster seeking in replay
- Faster starts during live
- New window picker with multi-select
- Syncing from Live Timing
- Improved Track Map performance
- Race Trace now supports Delta-to-Driver and now supports negative bounds
- New option to change the Track Map rotation so it better fits in your setup
- Improved right-click-to-screenshot (no more misaligned screenshots!)
- More icons for new Race Control Messages, and you can now filter Race Control Messages by type
- You can now right-click on the top-left corner of Lap Time Series to invert the axes
- During qualifying, Lap Time Series now shows visual separators for Q1/2/3
- Under the hood, we've moved much of the processing to the background, which helps performance and allows you to minimize the Live Timing window (and even close it, if you wish)
- These improvements also allow you to increase your "live delay" and it will actually seek backwards (at least, as far as you have built up a buffer). We hope this will enable full "play from start" functionality at some point
FIA WEC
- Live Timing is back, updated to work with their newest provider
- Race Control Messages are now shown separately from Race Events
- Added the same Lap Time Series that you're already familiar with in F1
- Fixed a bug that prevented MultiViewer from renewing your login session
IndyCar
- IndyCar moved their onboards to a different section, so we re-added them
General
- Player V2: Completed our migration to our new video player, which now has all the features our previous player had, but with better performance and a more modern UI
- Schedule quick navigation: Updated F1 TV schedules with buttons that allow you to quickly go to the last or next Grand Prix
- Native window dragging is supported again on all platforms, which means players snap to corners again and dragging performance is much better
- New Manage Accounts dialog that shows all of your streaming accounts and allows you to sign out of just one
- Fixed a bug where the Audi and Cadillac logos were hard to read in light mode
- Login forms on macOS now have a close button
- F1 TV's login form now remembers your login credentials (macOS and Windows only)
- On Linux, experimental support for Flatpak
- On Linux, we detect Wayland and automatically attempt to use XWayland in order for Setups and window dragging to work
- Added racing series to Color Customizations
- The quick-access FIA Documents button defaults to the current session's season
We've done lots of testing, but we can't catch every bug, so if you find one, please report it on our Discord and we'll try and troubleshoot it with you.

- Add a button to toggle track map transparency (this helps for now with resizing the window, as a transparent window may not resize as easily)
Changes:
Features
- Add 2026 straight line and overtake mode to track map (currently in early preview but available for testing, only normal grip for now)
- Certain track map markers now have labels when you hover over them
- Added "laps completed" to the stream partners overlay (streamers can request access here)
Bug Fixes

Other changes:
- Fixed a bug where team radios would show "An error occurred"
Changes:
- Improves live timing sync by using the live-timing latency and correcting for it
- Adds two new settings as a "escape hatch" in case the new corrections don't work as intended (I'll keep people up to date in Discord)
Improved live sync
Live sync had a number of issues for people, mainly that the live timing sync didn't work at all. This release is supposed to fix that, but it's impossible to test that without a live session. If you experience issues, please check your "Default base latency" in settings (if you didn't touch it, it's 30s by default), and calculate the "correct" live timing delay: live timing delay = (default base latency in ms, so 30000 by default) + 15500. You'll need this in case the new algorithm doesn't work for you. On Discord, we have a #syncing channel that you can read updates and instructions.
Other changes:
- Troubleshooting now also checks if you have "play from start" turned on
- Improved error messages with status code and body
Troubleshooting
MultiViewer for F1 now has a "Troubleshooting page", accessible from the sidebar. This page is basically a health-check and checks all kinds of common issues and shows you how to fix them. If you have any issues, please check this page first and see if it helps you. If not, you can reach out on Discord and we'll try to help you out.
GraphQL API
MultiViewer for F1 now has a GraphQL API, which is available at http://localhost:10101/api/graphql (or check Settings, your installation might be using a different port). This API is currently in beta and is subject to change. If you have any feedback, please reach out on Discord.
Team Radio
You can now view and listen to select team radio captures (the same that were available in the F1 mobile app). If you don't want to see them, you can disable it in Settings. See how it works
Other changes:
- When clicking on the speed in the driver telemetry bar, it'll now open detailed speed trap information
- Changes to how gaps are shown
- If the driver is within 1s and it's a (sprint) race session, the gap will have a green background
- If the driver is marked as "catching" (meaning that over the last few laps, the driver has been gaining time on the driver in front), the gap will have a green border
- Config and layouts now reside in the correct folder (instead of directly in
%AppData%on Windows, andApplication Supporton macOS) - Speed up initial boot by not loading developer extensions in production

Live sync
Live sync is now available by default, and a number of improvements have been made. Live sync now also attempts to sync the live-timing (this is considered experimental), and now works from any player, not just from international. Feedback is still appreciated.
Moar data = Moar better
You can now view leaderboards for speeds on speed traps and best sector times by using the new buttons next to the weather in live-timing.
Championship predictions
That's how they're called anyway, but it's more like "live championship points", where you can see what the standings would be like were the session to finish right now. This is only available in sessions where points are awarded, not during qualifying (except sprint-qualifying) or practice.
Other changes:
- Hide car telemetry: if you don't use car telemetry, or want to preserve your CPU/GPU, you can now hide it.
- Close all other players is now an option in the context menu
- Live in schedule: Schedule now uses items from the homepage to show them as live, instead of just scheduled start time
- Players will now prefer cloudfront CDN, which is more reliable, and only fall back if that fails
- Wind direction simplified, limited to 8 directions, no longer 3-character
- Warning is now shown when "play from start" is enabled, since various features are unavailable and people may have it left enabled
- Switch stream context menu now has consistent sorting
- ChampionshipPrediction topic is now available in the API
Changes:
- Add recovery vehicle RCM detection
- Make sure safety-car related penalties/investigations don't get the safety-car icon
- When dates are unavailable in schedules, events will be sorted using their "session index", ensuring they are still in logical order (for older seasons)
- Update Electron to 21.2.0
Experimental live sync
There's now a very experimental live sync method available. To enable it, open Settings, scroll all the way down to "Experimental settings" and enable "Live sync". This method will try to see the differences in the live latencies across players and correct for it. This may not work, and may screw with your sync, which is why it's disabled by default. Try at your own risk, and please report any issues you may have with it using this form
Other changes:
- Refactor cross-window player communication
- Add live-latency diff tracking (for use with live-sync)
- Add live-content error dialog (for people in regions without F1TV Pro)

- Added test tire compound (note that the test compound is only identified as such later in the FP2 session, it starts out as unknown)
Changes:
- Align the titles used in the schedule with F1TV
- Add analytics for player errors
- Refactor API internally to remove unneeded helpers and fix error handling
Automatic updates are here
Yes, you read that right. Finally. This should be the last update that you have to install manually! (unless you're on Linux, but I hope to share news for Linux soon as well) In addition, macOS users no longer get annoying popups saying the app isn't trusted/secure, because thanks to @heyitznick the app is now signed & notorized by Apple.
Windows joins the dark side
Windows joins macOS and Linux on the dark side, with all platforms now supporting dark-themed window frames if your OS has dark mode enabled.
App Analytics
I asked for feedback earlier this week in #polls and want to thank many of you who responded. The poll is still open, so you're welcome to make your voice heard, but the first version of app analytics is here. I'll try to share aggregate statistics here (likely in #technical, #development-updates or #offtopic) and if you want you can read more about it here. If there's anything I think you should know is that: 1) I try to collect only what I can use to improve the app, and will never collect anything that could be personally identifiable and 2) it is opt-in, and you can always change your mind afterwards.
